About Mary Wagner
A Longtime Langford Resident
Mary Wagner was born and raised in Langford, where she attended Savory Elementary and Spencer Junior High. After living a couple of years in the Okanagan, she returned to the University of Victoria and earned her PhD in Biochemistry. After several years of scientific research experience, she moved back to the heart of Langford where she raised her family while teaching biology at UVic for 15 years. She continues to live in the City Centre and has been serving as a Langford Councillor since 2022.
Growing up here and raising her family here has given her a deep understanding of the past, the current pace of growth and the value of preserving the close-knit, nature-connected community she loves.
“Together, we can shape Langford into a
balanced and thriving community for all.”
— Mary Wagner

When she’s not at Council or a community event, you might find her curling with her family, attending local festivals, or volunteering.
Serving Langford with Heart and Integrity
Elected to City Council in 2022, Mary has brought her research background and evidence-based mindset to local government. She’s proud to have contributed to Langford’s first-ever Strategic Plan, along with many new Master Plans including Transportation, Arts and Culture, Economic Development, Parks and Trails, and more, creating a roadmap for a more connected, livable, and sustainable city.
Her priorities have remained consistent:
Building a climate-resilient city that protects greenspace and trees
Making evidence-based decisions through meaningful public engagement
Strengthening community safety, arts, culture, and recreation spaces
